The Afromosia belongs to the subfamily of the legume family and comes from the tropical West and Central Africa. It can reach a growing height of up to 50 m and a diameter of up to 2 m. For the production of veneer, the yellowish brown to light olive heart is used. Afromosia veneer is used in furniture production for interior and exterior use as well as in boat building. It is also used as a substitute for teak wood and has become famous as a result. Today it is on the CITES list of endangered species.
