Veneers are unique natural beauties made of real wood. Veneers can not be manufactured artifically. Unlike machine-made decors, veneers are absolutely pure nature with an outstanding eco-balance. As individual as each tree grows over decades, so unrivaled is the veneer that is gained from it.

Our new veneer showroom

Be inspired by these unique natural beauties, including some of the finest veneers on earth.

After more than a year of construction we are proud to present you this veneer exhibition. Due to the enormous ceiling height the 300 veneer samples look impressive but never overloaded. The lighting has a calming effect and presents the veneer samples under ideal conditions. However, this veneer exhibition still does not represent the full range of our products. But we are working on it!

The formation of burls

If burls are formed, then something went wrong during the growth of the tree. Friends of the noble woods are particularly pleased, beacause the wild intricate fiber makes an appealing grain.

The formation of burls is actually an abnormality that results from sleeping buds. Every tree must constantly form buds from which new branches can grow – that is essential for them. Sometimes this mechanism is disturbed and the tree forms a lot of buds, but they don´t cast out. These dormant buds are overgrown by the surrounding wood and cause the tree to form burls. Often this process happens after an injury of the log.

MOVIE ABOUT THE PRODUCTION OF VENEER

Every log we use for veneer production can be disposed almost 100%. Wood can not be handeld more sparingly.

From one cubic meter of wood we can get 800 sqm of veneer. The veneer production is still very extensive today. At first we assess the quality of the log. Only with help of his ends and the bark we can assess and value him right. We drive and fly several thousand kilometers to buy the most beautiful and best logs of the season.

So unique like your fingerprint!

When you enter a room you will immediatly see if it is the Real and therefore 100% natural or just a wood-reproduction made of plastic. A reproduction can be recognized by the exactly repeating wood structures like lines or knots and by the constant coloration.

A 100% natural veneer against it, is like your fingerprint – unique.

Inside the tree, the structure changes from slight to noticeable, even colour changes are perceptible.

Our exhibition of veneer patterns is only an excerpt of what already existed in our house. Once sold, the log with this structure, figured texture and coloration don´t exist again.

Three generations

FAMILY-OWNED ENTERPRISE SINCE 1960

The company history of the Rothbucher Furniere gets back to the beginning of the 1960s. At that time Josef Rothbucher started to produce and trade veneer from local kinds of wood in Laufen (Bavaria). Far above the borders of Bavaria he became known for a special feature: Josef Rothbucher was considered the largest producer of bog-oak.

Now the third generation is already at the start. Benedikt Rothbucher grew up with wood and veneer and today he is responsible for the field sales.
