The veneer, also named „Pacific Coast Hemlock“ in North America, originates only from the botanical species Tsuga heterophylla, a conifer related to native fir. The Hemlock veneer is mainly used in areas where uniform colouring and a clear but not too strongly emphasized wood structure are important, e.g. for wall and ceiling cladding, panelling and doors. A special use of Hemlock exists because of the resin-free in the expansion of sauna rooms.
