The name Hickory stands for a number of tree species of the genus Carya from the family of wallnut trees and comes from eastern North America. It can reach a growth height of up to 40 m and a trunk diameter of 1 m. The Hickory wood is used for bowyers wood or for manufacturing of tool handles, baseball and golf clubs. It´s also very popular for smoking food. The Hickory veneer is very rarely used, mostly in the production of furniture.
