The larch belongs to the family of pine plants and comes from Central Europe. Its importance in gardening and landscaping has increased considerably since the 1990s, but it plays only a minor role in the German timber industry. The larch can reach a growth height of up to 45m and a trunk diameter of 1,2m. The veneer of pine is used in the manufacture of furniture, parquet and doors.
