The Grey elm, also known as „White elm“ belongs to the family of Ulmaceae and comes from USA and Canada. By the way, in German usage is the elm wood referred to as scaffolding when the trunk is cut down. It can reach a growth height of up to 35 m and a trunk diameter of 2 m. Its veneer is mainly used in the production of indoor furniture, panelling, doors and parquet. Due to the progressive death of elm, which is triggered by the small and large elm splinter beetle and a fungus, the veneer of the armouriser is only available to a limited extent.
