The Khaya mahogany of the species Khaya ivorensis is mainly found on the west coast of Africa and is one of the longest known imported woods. The Khaya woods are close botanical relatives of the American mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) and the African mahogany woods of the genus Entandrophragma such as the Sapelli. It can reach a growth height of up to 45m and a trunk diameter of 2m. The Khaya veneer is with its reddish-brown colouring mainly used in the manufacture of furniture and parquet.
