Teak counts as one of the longest known and most valuable woods in Asia. It is native to the monsoon forests of South Asia and has been cultivated there for more than 100 years by forestry measures. Due to its high quality, teak is now cultivated in plantations of tropical countries. Teak wood is known for its hardness and durability, which makes it particularly suitable for outdoor use, for example for garden furniture. The teak veneer is used in the more upscale interior design and in the production of furniture.
